Eat Sleep Piano
A creative podcast project developed through Creative Music Lessons at Creative Becoming
About
Eat Sleep Piano is a student-led podcast project developed through our Creative Music Lessons program at Creative Becoming, our ever-growing arts community based in Philadelphia.
Created collaboratively by young musicians and creatives, this 4-episode series explores how music connects to our personal lives and the world around us. Through themed conversations, creative characters, performances, games, and imaginative exploration, students help shape each episode from idea to recording.
A youth-created podcast developed through Creative Becoming’s music lessons program, Eat Sleep Piano gives young creators space to explore storytelling, music, performance, history, imagination, and conversation through collaborative podcast production.
Episode One
Musical Treasures
In episode 1, Musical Treasures, we share our musical treasures and what they mean to us. We also in introduce a spotlight student and ask friends and family in our community about their musical treasures!
Episode Two
Music in Movies
How does music change the way we experience a movie?
In Episode 2, our student hosts explore the powerful role music plays in film. Through movie clips, discussion, and interviews with friends and family, they discover how music can create suspense, spark emotion, and bring stories to life.
Scoring a Silent Film
For this project, our students created and recorded an original musical score for the short film Miscommunication. Working together, they explored how music can shape emotion, build suspense, and help tell a story without words.
To experience their work, press play on the film and the audio track below at the same time. The students composed and performed the score specifically to accompany the film's action and mood.
We are grateful to the filmmakers for creating and sharing this work, which inspired this creative project.
